South Park: The Stick of Truth sold 1.6m copies, slayed Crab People

When Ubisoft landed the publishing rights to South Park: The Stick of Truth  after THQ’s bankruptcy, gamers finally had some assurance that the promising title would actually release. A few delays later, and Obsidian’s exceptional take on the show in RPG form was out. Good news, folks, we’re here a year later to tell you that it did fairly well. Ubisoft’s earnings report for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2015 indicated that  South Park: The Stick of Truth sold 1.6 million copies. This game was wonderful, friends, especially if you like casual-esque RPGs and happen to enjoy the jokes in  South Park . Matt Stone and Trey Parker were clearly involved with the title from start to finish, and Obsidian very clearly treated this as a passion project. All of that combined to make a game fans would actually enjoy, something we’ve never been able to say concerning the  South Park license before. If you see it dip in price during a Steam sale, I absolutely recommend this game. It’s aweso

Xiaomi store launching in U.S. and Europe with limited stock

See full gallery on TechnoBuffalo Earlier this year, Xiaomi announced plans to sell some of its non-smartphone products here in America. That day is almost here, and as an added bonus the company is also bringing its accessories to  the U.K. , France and Germany. Starting next week on May 19, Xiaomi will begin selling select gadgets and accessories in the the new online store. That includes the company’s Mi Headphones ($79.99), the Mi Band fitness tracker ($14.99) and two battery packs with either 10400mAh or 5000mAh of power for $13.99 and $9.99, respectively. Stock will apparently be pretty limited though, so if anything catches your eye don’t hesitate for too long. Like we said, you won’t be able to buy any of the company’s popular smartphones, but if the Mi Store is a success in America and Europe it may convince the Chinese firm to start selling its handsets here as well. Guess the Phone: Still one of the best phones out there

It’s been a while. Nice to see you again. In the chaos of CES, and a handful of big smartphone launches, sometimes things fall by the wayside. That and sometimes you run out of phones to shoot pictures of. But in the spirit of an old favorite here at TechnoBuffalo, we thought we’d bring Guess the Phone back for another spin. Did you guess the phone already? I bet you did. You were always so clever. This phone is recognizable for a lot of reasons, and even though it’s considered “old,” it’s still one of the top devices on the market. I actually prefer it, in some ways, to its younger, more advanced brother. It actually feels pretty good to get my hands on this handset again; the design, in my opinion, is superior, and it still elicits a “wow” factor. Just like One Direction prompts a “wow” factor. Just kidding. Or am I? I don’t need to tell you that this was one of the first phones to sport a QHD screen, or that it introduced a fancy focusing mechanism. Or that it sports a pretty larg

Here’s some of the crazy tech AT&T is developing behind the scenes

Last week, AT&T invited TechnoBuffalo to its New York headquarters for a science fair of sorts. Researchers working for the company all over the world assembled in one room to show off the latest cutting edge hardware and software they’ve been developing in private. There was a lot to take in, and not much time to do it, but we managed to check out a few cool projects. Here are the three most exciting things we saw at AT&T’s Innovation Showcase. Project Car Seat: See full gallery on TechnoBuffalo Developed at AT&T’s Foundry in Texas, this car seat attachment creates a direct line of communication between your smartphone and your vehicle. The inspiration actually came from news reports of children being left inside cars on particularly hot days, so it comes loaded with sensors for detecting CO2, heat and motion. However, that’s just a small fraction of what Project Car Seat can do. “It connects your car to the rest of your digital life,” says Michael Albrecht, who curren

CBS, HGTV, Fox Now and more gain Chromecast support

That little Chromecast, man, it just keep getting better and better with age. I’ve owned my $35 dongle for, I suppose, a year or so now, and I still use it all the time. On Friday, several new apps began offering streaming support right to the Chromecast. That includes HGTV, which is awesome if you’re a fan of Property Brothers like myself. Additionally, you’ll find updated apps for FXNOW, HGTV, Fox Now and CBS All Access. PlutoTV and Haystack are also among the new apps; PlutoTV has its own TV guide and listing of more than 100 streaming stations to choose from. Haystack is a news app that curates content based on your tastes. Google warns, of course, that you may need to sign in with your existing cable provider in order to access some of the streaming content, which is always par for the course. Hit the source to learn more, or update your apps to gain Chromecast support. Source : Google from TechnoBuffalo http://ift.tt/1EbWOl9

Here’s what Amazon is adding to Prime Instant Video in June

See full gallery on TechnoBuffalo Before the end of spring gives way to the warmth of summer, saddle up to Amazon Prime Instant Video. The service on Thursday announced what new movies it’ll offer in June, and there’s something for everyone, from horror, to drama, to action. There’s also a healthy dose of “so bad, they’re good” films, which is the perfect way to end a summer night. It’s going to be a good June. The list has a few standouts, along with some titles I’ve been meaning to catch up on. The Shining and Apocalypse Now are arguably the biggest films, followed by Roman Holiday , Sid & Nancy , and the disorienting The Island of Dr. Moreau . And, come on, you know you can resist the repugnant charm of Troll and Troll 2 . The full list of movies is below, along with titles you’ll be able to rent or purchase. How to get Android Wear to work with iOS

Official Android Wear support for iOS could be right around the corner , but if you’re impatient like us, you can actually get a workaround up and running right now. No jailbreak is required, though it’s worth noting that this method is very particular, which means its functionality is somewhat limited. Even still, if you’re unhappy with Apple’s own smartwatch offering , this could be a good way to get yourself acquainted with the Android Wear platform. You’ll need three things to make this work: an Android Wear device, an Android device and an iPhone. I know what you’re thinking, “Doesn’t an Android device defeat the purpose of using Android Wear with iOS?” You actually only need an Android phone for one step, so you’ll be able to ditch it once you’re up and running. Setting everything up is very straight forward after that—you should be good to go in about 10 minutes. The first thing you need to do is download Wear Connect for iOS on your Android device. This app uses BLE Utility

Film Fondue: Is Daniel Craig in Star Wars: The Force Awakens?

Happy Mad Max: Fury Road week, you guys. Every other big movie slated to come out this summer should be worried. Not only have the early reviews been positive, but overwhelmingly so. Rotten Tomatoes currently has an aggregate score of 98-percent, with almost 200 reviews counted. Yeah, I’m excited. And you should be, too. We hit a lot of the bigger entertainment news and rumors this week, highlighted by the (still unconfirmed) news that Asa Butterfield will be the next Spider-Man. We’re not sure when Marvel will officially unveiled the 18-year-old as the friendly neighborhood web slinger, but it should be any day now. Any day indeed. I’m having a hard time concentrating knowing Fury Road is waiting for me, ready to take me on a beautiful thrill-ride across a scorched desert. You can catch up on all the entertainment news your heart can handle below, along with some other rumors and news we didn’t get a chance to check out. Bebop has been cast in TMNT 2 ? iPhone Air concept design comes to life in new video

See full gallery on TechnoBuffalo Last week we were treated to an iPhone 7 concept design from Martin Hajek. Now we have another take on the upcoming Apple smartphone from the folks at SET Solution. This time we’re looking at the long-rumored iPhone Air , and the concept design takes the form of an Apple-style keynote video introducing the device. The imagined smartphone is just 4.3mm thick with a 1080p display that measures just 4-inches across. Unlike the alleged 4-inch plastic iPhone 6c however, this model features a sleek metal design similar to the iPhone 6. SET Solution also offers a few other possible specs, including a 13-megapixel camera, a 3200mAh battery and 32/64GB of storage. That seems like too big of a battery for this size phone, at least considering the thickness. The design looks pretty nice, though like we said it’s not too different from the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. We can’t help but wonder how it would feel using such a thin phone. At just 4.3mm thick the

Candy Crush Saga will come preinstalled with Windows 10

I thought this was a joke when I first saw the report, but it’s legitimate. Microsoft’s strategy to offer Windows 10 for free means it will come with some side bloatware, including free games. The company said recently that it was “excited” to offer King’s  Candy Crush Saga for free with Windows 10. The company said in a blog post that it’s happy to include a new Solitaire Collection and other games that Windows fans have loved for years, such as Hearts and Minesweeper. Then it added: In addition to these games, we’re also working with partners to bring some of their great games to Windows 10 too. And we’re excited to be able to announce today that King will bring their game, Candy Crush Saga, to Windows 10. Candy Crush Saga will be automatically installed for customers that upgrade or download Windows 10 during the launch! That sounds like bloatware to us, and maybe we’re starting to see how Microsoft plans to cover its costs of offering Windows 10 for free for the first year

PlayStation Flash Sale – Mass Effect Trilogy, other games under $5

See full gallery on TechnoBuffalo It’s been a pretty slow month on the PlayStation Store sales front. I mean, even I haven’t dropped any money on cheap games, so that has to account for something. Bill Nye wants your help going to space

See full gallery on TechnoBuffalo An original concept by Carl Sagan is being conceived into action by an Avengers-style team of super scientists, and they need your help. Bill Nye and The Planetary Society are attempting to raise money, via Kickstarter , for a new project known as LightSail, a sailing spacecraft that utilizes solar power to propel itself across the galaxy. I’ll let Nye himself explain what makes LightSail so intriguing: Imagine it: unlimited free energy from the Sun will provide CubeSats with propulsion and revolutionize access to space for low-cost citizen projects—projects like ours or by teams of students and faculty at universities. This means that spacecraft, especially small ones like CubSats, won’t have to carry heavy fuels into orbit, and that the acceleration will be continuous. You can actually see Sagan promote his solar sailing idea on Johnny Carson’s The Tonight Show (video below). Solar sails work by using the sun’s energy as a means of propulsion

Glorious PC RPG Divinity: Original Sin bound for Xbox One and PS4

See full gallery on TechnoBuffalo Divinity: Original Sin was one of the best rated PC RPGs of 20154. Gamers loved its throwback to more classic times, and critics applauded its mechanics and wealth of content. Put plainly, Larian Studios created a slam dunk of an Action RPG. Now, the console gamers out there who own either an Xbox One or a PlayStation 4 will have a crack at the tale. Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition is coming to the PS4, Xbox One and PC. Yes, PC friends, you’ll get all the updated content for free on PC if you already own Divinity: Original Sin . Polygon has the news alongside some discussion from Larian Studios Founder and Creative Director Swen Vincke. He offered that splitscreen cooperative play is coming, as well as a new ending and voiced dialogue. “It has a truckload of changes versus the original game…Literally thousands of little improvements here and there.” As for a release date? Nothing yet. Focus Home Interactive, the publisher Larian pick

Moto G (3rd Gen) specs get spilled by Indian retailer

See full gallery on TechnoBuffalo The Moto G  may not be as flashy as the Moto X or the DROID Turbo , but it’s Motorola’s secret workhorse and the reason for much of its recent success. Now, the budget-friendly handset could be due for an upgrade based on some recently leaked specs for the third-gen handset. The device was leaked on FlipKart, a popular Indian online retailer, this week. The company managed to scrub the post pretty quickly, but not before  Gadgetraid could snap a few screenshots. The new Moto G apparently comes in white (among other possible options) and packs 8GB of storage, likely with microSD support for adding extra space. Gadgetraid claims the listing also revealed a few other specs, including a Snapdragon 610 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 5 or 5.2-inch 1080p display and 4G LTE. There’s no way to verify any of that, though it seems pretty believable. By comparison, last year’s Moto G packed just 1GB of RAM, a Snapdragon 400 and a 5-inch 720p display. Speaking of

Nintendo has a pleasant surprise for fans of its Pushmo and Crashmo puzzle games. An unannounced fourth game in the popular series has just been added to the Nintendo 3DS eShop for free, so fire up your handhelds and be sure to check out Stretchmo ! Rumor Roundup: Moto 360 2 release, and new Motorola flagships

On this week’s episode of Rumor Roundup, Mark talks about several new possibilities in the Android world. While Samsung, HTC and LG all come out with their new wares, it appears Motorola also has plans for something new. The company seems to be testing three different devices, and they all sport QHD screens. There’s a chance only one of them will be released, but obviously some activity is happening behind the scenes. It also looks like Motorola is very close to introducing a Moto 360 successor. Following several rumors about the wearable’s impending arrival, the device may have passed through Bluetooth certification, just in time for Google I/O. That’s just speculation, but it would be the perfect place for a glorious introduction. Finally, Samsung may be prepping a more rugged version of the Galaxy S6, known as the Galaxy S6 Active. Releasing more durable versions of the same phone is nothing new for Samsung, but this one is of particular note considering how drastically the Korea

Mega Man Battle Network 3 launches for the Wii U Virtual Console

“Mega May” is in full stride with an assault of Mega Man games that Capcom is bringing to digital channels. We are coming to an end of Mega Man’s classic library with a few late fan-favorites that have been overlooked over the years. This week’s entry is actually two Game Boy Advance games, Mega Man Battle Network 3 Blue and Mega Man Battle Network 3 White . Both are available for $9.99, and together they form a sort of Pokemon -esque symbiotic relationship. General feeling among fans is that this is one of the stronger games in the sub-series. A quick glance at conversations shows that this is where the gameplay hit its peak and the post-game content provides the most entertainment. On the other hand, fans seem to hold its story in lower regard that Mega Man Battle Network 2 . I haven’t played this third entry, so I can’t say specifically. Either way, the previous games were a lot of fun, and they should be reexamined as a more than competent attempt to bring Mega Man into the

Netflix wants to expand to China, but obstacles remain

Netflix wants to go big. Real big. The service is already available in almost 50 markets around the world, but rumor has it the streaming video firm has its eyes set on the world’s most populous market: China. In its most recent quarterly earnings report, published in April, Netflix revealed that it now has more than 62 million subscribers around the world, up 2.28 million customers. That figure stands to increase drastically if it can tap into China and, according to  The Wall Street Journal , that’s the plan. But it won’t be easy. Local broadcasters told  The Wall Street Journal that content censorship is one major barrier that will need to be crossed. Wasu Media Holding and BesTV were two possible partners named by the news outlet. “We are still taking time to know each other better because America’s content industry is very different from China’s,” an executive with Wasu explained. There aren’t any immediate plans to push Netflix live in China just yet, but it would create mil

Suicide Squad: New Harley Quinn and Killer Croc pictures surface

See full gallery on TechnoBuffalo Thanks to lots of location shooting, new pictures of the cast of Suicide Squad just keep turning up everywhere. While there has been an official Suicide Squad family photo , not much else has been seen officially of the cast. Luckily the film is currently shooting on the streets of Vancouver, so people keep catching images of them. The latest batch shows us Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) in his full body make-up, while several new shots of Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) show off her fondness for bubble gum and tattoos. Noticeable on Harley’s right forearm is a tattoo we hadn’t seen yet that is more along the lines of her namesake, Other than that, the condition she and Deadshot (Will Smith) are in seems to indicate that this is probably towards the end of the film. We still haven’t seen the Joker (Jared Leto) on set, which is making a lot of folks wonder just how much he is in the film. Is he in a small part? Running things from behind the
