South Park: The Stick of Truth sold 1.6m copies, slayed Crab People

When Ubisoft landed the publishing rights to South Park: The Stick of Truth after THQ’s bankruptcy, gamers finally had some assurance that the promising title would actually release. A few delays later, and Obsidian’s exceptional take on the show in RPG form was out.

Good news, folks, we’re here a year later to tell you that it did fairly well. Ubisoft’s earnings report for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2015 indicated that South Park: The Stick of Truth sold 1.6 million copies.

This game was wonderful, friends, especially if you like casual-esque RPGs and happen to enjoy the jokes in South Park. Matt Stone and Trey Parker were clearly involved with the title from start to finish, and Obsidian very clearly treated this as a passion project.

All of that combined to make a game fans would actually enjoy, something we’ve never been able to say concerning the South Park license before. If you see it dip in price during a Steam sale, I absolutely recommend this game. It’s awesome.

Gears of War remaster screenshots from footage leak

See full gallery on TechnoBuffalo The only thing Black Tusk and Microsoft have left to do on the Gears of War remaster is actually announce it. We’ve seen it hinted at, denied, and rated. Now we have some footage accidentally leaked onto the Xbox DVR site, likely by a developer who forgot to disable the automatic upload. This isn’t gameplay footage per se – the enemy is standing still in the clips while the player attacks them. It’s likely test footage for some of the gore physics or something like that. But it’s definitely footage taken in-game.The two images above were pulled from a NeoGAF thread on the leak comparing the screenshot of the new clips to one from the original Gears. Microsoft is likely scrambling to take the footage down, but currently the thread, linked to in the source for this story, has links to the videos. If you decide to click through and watch the clips, it’s important to note that they were filmed using the Xbox Game DVR and were filmed three months ago, before t…

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt launch trailer take 2 – Go Your Own Way

You can call it another lonely day. Haven’t we been here once before? CD Projekt RED believes that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is far too amazing for just one launch trailer, so it has decided to create yet another just to drive home the fact that you need to play this game. The new “Go Your Way” launch trailer features more in-engine graphics instead of impressive pre-rendered CG, and its focus this time around is not our big, bad hero Geralt but rather the Princess Ciri. Don’t be fooled by her puppy dog eyes and adorable freckles. This girl will kill you in a flash! The trailer tells her tale of how she wandered from home, and tells of how Geralt sets out to find her.The relationship between these two is not the only star of the trailer either. Geralt’s fantasy world is full of real life horrors that extend beyond mere monsters. Slaughter, torture, executions, dangerous seductions. The trailer bares all that you will find in this horrible yet beautiful place, giving you a taste of the s…

State of Decay: Year-One Survival Edition gets a debut trailer

State of Decay was a surprise for just about everyone when it hit Xbox 360 last year. Despite some issues with visual jankiness, Undead Labs’ particular take on zombie survival proved memorable for fans and critics, and the game quickly became one of the fastest selling games to hit Xbox Live.
Now the remaster, State of Decay: Year-One Survival Edition, is just over a month away from release on digital and physical shelves. The game will run in 1080p and features significantly upscaled, genitalia-free visuals. It also combines the three pieces of the game – the initial release and the Breakdown and Lifeline expansions and brings a variety of updates and new gear as well.
The game will be $29.99 unless you already own a copy of the original, in which case you’re eligible for a 33 percent discount to pick up the new one.
State of Decay: Year-One Survival Edition hits PC and Xbox One on April 28.
