Ubisoft is finished with PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, teases new AAA series

Just Dance

It’s all over, folks. Ubisoft has moved on from cross-generation development in all areas of its business except for the Just Dance series.

During the company’s financial call this week,Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot confirmed that all of its other major franchises, including a new unannounced one, will be aimed for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC only.

On Just Dance, we will continue to bring old-gen console versions. But on the other products like Assassin’s Creed, Rainbow Six, The Division, and the unannounced franchise, we will not have old-gen versions.

I suppose it just forgot to mention Far Cry, so don’t expect to see that popping up on the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 either.

As for the new and unannounced AAA franchise, Ubisoft has said that it will reveal its title later this year, but not at E3. The game will also be released during this fiscal year for the company, meaning before next April. My guess is that Gamescom will be where Ubisoft decided to announce it, backed with the home field advantage in Europe.

Out with the old, in with the new for Ubisoft. Hopefully, the company can pull out of the funk it worked itself into last year with a fresh set of eyes solely focused on the new platforms. Are they even “new” anymore?

Mad Max meets Mario Kart is just bloody brilliant

How is this for a clever mash-up?  sundbergkr ‘s Mario Kart: Fury Road parody trailer mashes up the worlds of Mad Max and Mario Kart to epic results in this wonderful parody of the film’s trailer. What’s really special about this mash-up is that it isn’t entirely overdone. The Mario references are brief, subtle, and appear just long enough for you to appreciate them before waiting eagerly for the next one. Without a doubt the giant Chomp is the most laugh out loud moment, but the creators also slip in some perfectly timed and inappropriate voice clips during the violent action. I still haven’t seen Mad Max: Fury Road , due it not coming out in Japan until June 20, but I had purposely avoided the trailers to not get any spoilers. Now, thanks to Mario, June 20 can’t come fast enough! Source : Via : Destructoid from TechnoBuffalo http://ift.tt/1AvRv58

Exec behind “Next Big Thing” campaign has departed Samsung

Samsung Mobile CMO, Todd Pendleton, has reportedly departed the company, according to CNET . Pendleton is credited with creating Samsung’s famous “Next Big Thing” campaign, which took aim at the company’s rivals while highlighting the benefits of its own mobile lineup. The ads were smart, terse, and ultimately helped raise the awareness of Samsung’s brand as a major smartphone maker here in the U.S. It’s unclear why Pendleton left, but it’s being reported that Samsung executives became dissatisfied with the campaign’s recent success, even going so far as auditing the mobile division’s Dallas headquarters. It seems you can only use the Next Big Thing tagline so many times; the commercials have taken a decidedly different turn over the past few months, focusing on design, functionality and features rather than bashing Samsung competitors. The timing, I suppose, seems appropriate given that Samsung has just unveiled two new flagships, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. Samsung is clearly ...

Star Wars: Battlefront will not have classes

See full gallery on TechnoBuffalo When it comes time to pick your gear and weaponry in DICE’s upcoming relaunch of  Star Wars: Battlefront , you won’t be sifting through classes or class-specific stuff. That’s because the new  Battlefront has no class. I don’t mean that in a belch during dinner at a fancy restaurant kind of way, either. I mean you won’t be picking stuff like Engineer, Assault or Support before you roll onto the battlefield. In an interview with OXM , as summed up by the magazine’s sister site  Games Radar , Design Director Niklas Fegraeus indicated that classes are out. You’ll be able to pick and choose between unlocked weapons and gear freely and build to your own style. Furthermore, Fegraeus also indicated that  Battlefront will not feature the five-person squad feature that  Battlefield  offers. Instead, players will run as partners, a group of two system that lets players stick together, appear on one another’s HUDs and spawn besi...
