Crypt of the NecroDancer mod is the Mega Man rhythm game we’ve never had

Not ready for “Mega May” to end just yet? Capcom has done a good job making sure that every classic Mega Man game that it can release has been released through digital channels, but when it comes to original content, the fan scene is still the best place to look.

Like this mod for example! The Mega Man series is eternally memorable for its amazing soundtracks, but we’ve sadly never gotten a rhythm game out of it. Luckily, we have CutmanMike to thank for modding the Blue Bomber, a host of his iconic enemies, an arsenal of special weapons, and several of his greatest musical hits into the indie hit Crypt of the NecroDancer.

For those who have not played it, Crypt of the NecroDancer is a dungeon crawling roguelike game. Sure, we have enough of those these days, but the kicker which really helps this one stand out is that it must be played to a beat for maximum performance. Miss a beat, and your character will do less damage or miss an attack.

The Mega Man mod replicates this idea, but does so to the classic NES tunes. The hopping mechanic doesn’t perfectly match up to the Mega Man’s beats, but with a little practice, you’ll be dungeon crawling to an entire soundtrack of your favorite 8-bit music. You can pick up the mod through Steam and install it pretty easily.

Tesla Model S update promises to solve “range anxiety”

Tesla announced a new update coming to its Model S car this year which should make it impossible to ever drive too far away from a charging station, at least on purpose. The company also confirmed plans to add auto-steering features later this year. Ahead of the recent event, CEO Elon Musk promised to kill “range anxiety” once and for all, describing the concern some Tesla drivers feel over whether they’ll be able to reach a charging station in time. Once the firmware update (version 6.2) hits, it will add a Range Assurance application that keeps track of your location and the nearest chargers. The app, which always runs in the background, will send a notification to the driver if he or she is about to wander out of range so that they can turn around in time. “This makes it effectively impossible for a Model S driver to run out of range unintentionally,” Musk said.
