Assassin’s Creed Syndicate details clarified by Ubisoft

After the reveal of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate on Tuesday, Ubisoft released a Q&A going over some crucial plot and gameplay details, clarifying some elements of the game.

The game is set during the Industrial Revolution, which we knew, but it takes place specifically in the year 1868.

The story revolves around the economic disparity created by the rise of industry in England:

Despite fueling the engine of the British Empire, workers’ lives are little more than legalized slavery while the top few percent profit from their labor. Living poor and dying young, the lower class unite in protest as a new kind of family, gangs, who turn to a life in the underworld in their struggle to survive. A struggle, until watchful Assassins come to their side and re-ignite an age-old conflict involving London’s leaders that will echo throughout modern history, from the underground up.

Revenge does not, indeed, appear to be part of the plot here, as it has been so many times before. Jacob Frye is a young man at 21 years of age, trying to do what he thinks is right to help those in need. Those of us who have made it past that age where car insurance drops know that the ideals one holds at 21 aren’t always workable in the real world, and conflicts between Jacob’s desire for justice and the way things actually work could make for some interesting character development if Ubisoft lets their writers actually write something this time around.

In addition to Jacob, his sister Evie is confirmed as playable not just in missions but in the primary open-world area of the game. The Q&A describes her as master of the “silent, swift, invisible strike,” versus Jacob’s very public fisticuffs.

The game’s title, Syndicate, comes from the concept of warring gangs. Jacob’s approach to some of the issues he sees is to build a powerful gang that can take on those in power.

Ubisoft also confirmed at points of the document that trains and steamboats will be a part of gameplay, making for that many more moving parts to jump about on.

Finally, release dates were also clarified. While the game hits PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 23, its PC release will be a bit later, with an as-yet-undetermined release date.

¿Alguna vez has visto un ornitorrinco? Es probablemente el animal más extraño que jamás encuentres. Es un mamífero de sangre caliente, sin embargo, pone huevos. Está cubierto con la piel, pero se divierte un pico de pato. Y sus pies palmeados también parecen má…

Gears of War remaster screenshots from footage leak

See full gallery on TechnoBuffalo The only thing Black Tusk and Microsoft have left to do on the Gears of War remaster is actually announce it. We’ve seen it hinted at, denied, and rated. Now we have some footage accidentally leaked onto the Xbox DVR site, likely by a developer who forgot to disable the automatic upload. This isn’t gameplay footage per se – the enemy is standing still in the clips while the player attacks them. It’s likely test footage for some of the gore physics or something like that. But it’s definitely footage taken in-game.The two images above were pulled from a NeoGAF thread on the leak comparing the screenshot of the new clips to one from the original Gears. Microsoft is likely scrambling to take the footage down, but currently the thread, linked to in the source for this story, has links to the videos. If you decide to click through and watch the clips, it’s important to note that they were filmed using the Xbox Game DVR and were filmed three months ago, before t…

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt launch trailer take 2 – Go Your Own Way

You can call it another lonely day. Haven’t we been here once before? CD Projekt RED believes that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is far too amazing for just one launch trailer, so it has decided to create yet another just to drive home the fact that you need to play this game. The new “Go Your Way” launch trailer features more in-engine graphics instead of impressive pre-rendered CG, and its focus this time around is not our big, bad hero Geralt but rather the Princess Ciri. Don’t be fooled by her puppy dog eyes and adorable freckles. This girl will kill you in a flash! The trailer tells her tale of how she wandered from home, and tells of how Geralt sets out to find her.The relationship between these two is not the only star of the trailer either. Geralt’s fantasy world is full of real life horrors that extend beyond mere monsters. Slaughter, torture, executions, dangerous seductions. The trailer bares all that you will find in this horrible yet beautiful place, giving you a taste of the s…
