Amazon Prime comes with plenty of perks beyond free two-day shipping. Now, the company is offering up one more reason to stick around, 1-hour deliveries from some of your favorite local stores in New York.
Amazon Prime Now promises to deliver certain items within an hour for an extra $7.99 across all of Manhattan. Previously that was restricted to the company’s own massive pantry, which includes everything from toiler paper to TV sets. Now the retail giant is expanding the service by teaming up with a few popular New York food sellers.
If you happen to live in the right part of Manhattan you can order groceries and prepared foods from D’Agostino and Gourmet Garage, or even have Amazon deliver cupcakes from Billy’s Bakery. The company already has plans to expand in the area by adding service for Eataly and Westside Market as well. Other cities aren’t far behind either.
Amazon has been making a big push into the instant delivery market, where it’s competing with traditional rivals like Google along with startups like Postmates and Instacart. The latest update to Prime Now should keep the service popular among its devoted fans, though we’re not so sure cupcake deliveries are enough to win over very many new customers.
