A fake snake named “Trowzer” just pushed me to back Yooka-Laylee

Yooka-Laylee - Trowzer Snake

One of the things Rare did oh-so-well back in the Super NES, Nintendo 64 and even early Xbox 360 days was writing. In particular, the games they made packed more puns and innuendo than gamers could shake a stick at, and that always managed to pull a chuckle from me during play.

It’s because of one of those very same puns that I’ll be backing Yooka-Laylee, the not-so-official Banjo-Kazooie/Rare platformer revival from the recently formed Playtonic Games.

The Kickstarter page for this already massively successful crowdfunding effort just updated with the artwork and name for a brand new character: Trowzer the business snake. That’s right. Trowzer snake.

The puns don’t stop there. This business snake will “take your money and count it (he’s an Adder…),” explains Creative Lead Gavin Price. That pun made me audibly groan the first time I read it. And I loved it.

“Trowzer thinks of himself as the best salesman ever, but with his downbeat appearance and 1980’s mobile phone, life never took off for him.”

Trowzer is the character that sells moves to Yooka and Laylee, and you’ll interact with him and his goofy phone aplenty.

Creative Artist Steve Mayles talked about his silly design.

“I didn’t want him to be a snake in the traditional sense, and when Gav suggested he should have shorts on (do I have to add shorts to all of my characters?!), a great idea for this was his body could curl back up through the other leg hole. So he’ll move with a certain springiness, which will be fun to animate.”

I get that it might seem sort of silly to read that I’m backing a game because of a series of puns; but, that’s what made Rare’s work so special to me back when I played their games constantly.

Yooka-Laylee has already raised more than $2.3 million, so they hardly need my help. I’m giving it anyways, all thanks to Trowzer who is apparently not as bad at making deals as Playtonic thinks he is.

ornitorrinco
¿Alguna vez has visto un ornitorrinco? Es probablemente el animal más extraño que jamás encuentres. Es un mamífero de sangre caliente, sin embargo, pone huevos. Está cubierto con la piel, pero se divierte un pico de pato. Y sus pies palmeados también parecen má…

Gears of War remaster screenshots from footage leak

See full gallery on TechnoBuffalo The only thing Black Tusk and Microsoft have left to do on the Gears of War remaster is actually announce it. We’ve seen it hinted at, denied, and rated. Now we have some footage accidentally leaked onto the Xbox DVR site, likely by a developer who forgot to disable the automatic upload. This isn’t gameplay footage per se – the enemy is standing still in the clips while the player attacks them. It’s likely test footage for some of the gore physics or something like that. But it’s definitely footage taken in-game.The two images above were pulled from a NeoGAF thread on the leak comparing the screenshot of the new clips to one from the original Gears. Microsoft is likely scrambling to take the footage down, but currently the thread, linked to in the source for this story, has links to the videos. If you decide to click through and watch the clips, it’s important to note that they were filmed using the Xbox Game DVR and were filmed three months ago, before t…

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt launch trailer take 2 – Go Your Own Way

You can call it another lonely day. Haven’t we been here once before? CD Projekt RED believes that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is far too amazing for just one launch trailer, so it has decided to create yet another just to drive home the fact that you need to play this game. The new “Go Your Way” launch trailer features more in-engine graphics instead of impressive pre-rendered CG, and its focus this time around is not our big, bad hero Geralt but rather the Princess Ciri. Don’t be fooled by her puppy dog eyes and adorable freckles. This girl will kill you in a flash! The trailer tells her tale of how she wandered from home, and tells of how Geralt sets out to find her.The relationship between these two is not the only star of the trailer either. Geralt’s fantasy world is full of real life horrors that extend beyond mere monsters. Slaughter, torture, executions, dangerous seductions. The trailer bares all that you will find in this horrible yet beautiful place, giving you a taste of the s…
