OnePlus One OxygenOS leaks out in new photos

OnePlus is expected to release the first official version of its new OxygenOS later this month, but we may be getting an unofficial early look at the new software. A trio of photos shared by @leaksfly claim to reveal the Android-based operating system running on a OnePlus One.

Not much is revealed here beyond the boot screen animation and an intro menu for selecting your language. Overall it looks like a pretty clean design with some clear inspiration taken from Android 5.0 Lollipop. We can only hope the rest of OxygenOS looks as nice.

Earlier this year a handful of leaked photos claimed to show way more of OxygenOS, including the homescreen and a pre-installed weather app. But OnePlus quickly called out the screenshots as fake, leaving us back at square one. Now at least we have a small taste of what the company has planned.

OxygenOS is set to launch later this month as the Chinese company moves away from its old partnership with Cyanogen. The new software will presumably debut as an optional update for the OnePlus One, but we’re guessing that won’t be the case for future devices. Once the long-rumored OnePlus 2 finally hits the market it’s likely to run OxygenOS out of the box.

OnePlus has a lot riding on this new software, and we’re excited to see how it compares to Cyanogen’s own software. After all, if the OxygenOS is a disappointment it could make the OnePlus 2 a lot less desirable.

Mad Max meets Mario Kart is just bloody brilliant

How is this for a clever mash-up?  sundbergkr ‘s Mario Kart: Fury Road parody trailer mashes up the worlds of Mad Max and Mario Kart to epic results in this wonderful parody of the film’s trailer. What’s really special about this mash-up is that it isn’t entirely overdone. The Mario references are brief, subtle, and appear just long enough for you to appreciate them before waiting eagerly for the next one. Without a doubt the giant Chomp is the most laugh out loud moment, but the creators also slip in some perfectly timed and inappropriate voice clips during the violent action. I still haven’t seen Mad Max: Fury Road , due it not coming out in Japan until June 20, but I had purposely avoided the trailers to not get any spoilers. Now, thanks to Mario, June 20 can’t come fast enough! Source : Via : Destructoid from TechnoBuffalo http://ift.tt/1AvRv58

Exec behind “Next Big Thing” campaign has departed Samsung

Samsung Mobile CMO, Todd Pendleton, has reportedly departed the company, according to CNET . Pendleton is credited with creating Samsung’s famous “Next Big Thing” campaign, which took aim at the company’s rivals while highlighting the benefits of its own mobile lineup. The ads were smart, terse, and ultimately helped raise the awareness of Samsung’s brand as a major smartphone maker here in the U.S. It’s unclear why Pendleton left, but it’s being reported that Samsung executives became dissatisfied with the campaign’s recent success, even going so far as auditing the mobile division’s Dallas headquarters. It seems you can only use the Next Big Thing tagline so many times; the commercials have taken a decidedly different turn over the past few months, focusing on design, functionality and features rather than bashing Samsung competitors. The timing, I suppose, seems appropriate given that Samsung has just unveiled two new flagships, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. Samsung is clearly ...

Star Wars: Battlefront will not have classes

See full gallery on TechnoBuffalo When it comes time to pick your gear and weaponry in DICE’s upcoming relaunch of  Star Wars: Battlefront , you won’t be sifting through classes or class-specific stuff. That’s because the new  Battlefront has no class. I don’t mean that in a belch during dinner at a fancy restaurant kind of way, either. I mean you won’t be picking stuff like Engineer, Assault or Support before you roll onto the battlefield. In an interview with OXM , as summed up by the magazine’s sister site  Games Radar , Design Director Niklas Fegraeus indicated that classes are out. You’ll be able to pick and choose between unlocked weapons and gear freely and build to your own style. Furthermore, Fegraeus also indicated that  Battlefront will not feature the five-person squad feature that  Battlefield  offers. Instead, players will run as partners, a group of two system that lets players stick together, appear on one another’s HUDs and spawn besi...
