We’ve been hearing rumors about Huawei’s flagship Ascend P8 for a while now, but it looks like the new phone may finally be set to make its official debut. The Chinese company has apparently sent out official invites to an April 15 event in London where it’s expected to announce the high-end device.
Two teasers for the press event suggest we’re definitely in for something big. The first appears to confirm it’s the P8, while also hinting that the company could put an emphasis on battery life with this device. The second simply promises that “It’s Coming,” without offering any more details on what it might be.
Based on earlier reports, we’re expecting a 5.2-inch 1080p smartphone with dual 13-megapixel cameras on the front and back, a 2600mAh battery, 3GB of RAM and an in-house octa-core processor. The Ascend P8 may also feature a ceramic unibody design, though glass and metal materials are also possible. It should ship running Android 5.0 Lollipop along with some of the company’s own extra software.
We’ll be keeping an eye out for any more news leading up to the big event on April 15. Beyond the Ascend P8, we’re also waiting on official pricing and availability for the Huawei Watch. Hopefully the company will cover that as well during the same announcement.
