Apple claims its smartwatch will get through a full day on a single charge, but that hasn’t stopped accessory-makers from offering their own on-the-go battery packs. It turns out Apple even designed its own charging bracelet for the Watch, though it won’t actually be available to purchase.
9to5Mac reports that the Cupertino company has come up with an “Apple Watch Magnetic Charging Bracelet,” pointing to a recent FCC filing as proof. The smartwatch accessory includes a meter-long cable and a built-in charging coil, allowing the Apple Watch to charge continuously while on display. The bracelet will be used in place of the more bulky, standard charger in the company’s stores once the device arrives next month.
Even if Apple Watch does have battery issues, we doubt Cupertino will step in with its own solution. The company seems happy to let other firms corner the market for iPhone battery cases and packs, and we’re guessing the same thing will happen with the upcoming smartwatch. Apple will offer plenty of different wrist bands to mix and match, but if you want one with a built-in battery you’ll have to look elsewhere.
