The Oppo R7 is already shaping up to be a pretty sweet smartphone, now a new leak may reveal a key factor that’s been missing from the equation: the price.
According to a pair of leaked photos apparently snapped during a secret Oppo presentation, and published by MyDrivers, the upcoming R7 will cost just 2999 Yuan off-contract. That’s roughly $484, which sounds pretty good for a flagship phone, or so you might think.
The same leak also reveals a list of specs for the Oppo R7, including a 5-inch 1080p display, a Snapdragon 615 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a 2320mAh battery, and a 13-megapixel rear camera. That isn’t exactly flagship hardware, and the combination of a less powerful processor and just 2GB of RAM has us a little worried the device won’t perform as well as the competition.
Speaking of which, Oppo compares the R7 to Huawei’s P8, which packs an octa-core Kirin processor and 3GB of RAM for a slightly lower price in China. Otherwise the two devices look pretty similar in both hardware and design. It’s unclear how Oppo plans to separate itself from the competition.
We’re excited to see the Oppo R7 officially announced later this month, even if we already know pretty much everything about the new phone already. Hopefully it won’t be too long before the device is unveiled.
