Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S is still one of our favorite tablets around, but the company may be gearing up to release an updated model of its metal Android slate. A new leak claims to offer a first look at the upcoming 9.7-inch Galaxy Tab S2.

The new device looks pretty similar to last year’s model, though the layout is in portrait mode here unlike with the larger Galaxy Tab S 10.5, which has a landscape layout. We’re guessing the rumored smaller 8.4-inch Galaxy Tab S2 will look pretty much identical. Both models are also expected to pack new 64-bit Exynos processors and run Android 5.0 Lollipop.
The new tablets could be even thinner than their predecessors, coming in at just 5.4mm thick, though it’s possible the 9.7-inch model could be a tiny bit thicker. Either way, both Galaxy Tab 2 variants should be pretty sleek, and we can’t wait to get our hands on them.
Samsung still hasn’t confirmed any plans to announce the new tablets, but it’s possible they could be unveiled as soon as next month. That’s when the original Galaxy Tab S lineup made its debut, making it the obvious time for an update.
Check back soon for the latest on Samsung’s rumored Galaxy Tab S2, and you can take at look at some images of last year’s flagship tablet below for now.
