It’s time to remember the magic… again! Square Enix is once again launching Final Fantasy X|X2 HD Remaster, this time for the PlayStation 4, and we once again get to watch Tidus and Yuna get all lovey-dovey and hear that background song… again.
Yes, Final Fantasy X is one of my favorite games in the franchise, but even I am a little sick of it at this point. Unless Square Enix is prepping for a PC launch in the coming year, we are hopefully past this classic’s little revival, and the company can move on to other HD remasters from the same era, like Final Fantasy XII.
Oh well, at least I enjoyed Square Enix’s jab at the games”awkward” laughing scene.
My guess is that this PlayStation 4 version will go down as the definitive one. I still prefer the low-rez character models from the PlayStation 2 version and think they have aged better than most from the early days of its generation. However, I can’t say no to that remastered soundtrack. Plus, the ability to play the game on a modern console is something that the PlayStation 2 disc sadly can’t provide.
Final Fantasy X|X2 HD Remaster is available on the PlayStation 4. No cross-buy options available for those who already own it for the PlayStation 3 or PS Vita… like myself.
