Next ASUS ZenPad tablet shown in new leak

ASUS looks set to kick off a new line of tablets dubbed the ZenPad, according to a pair of leaked renders obtained by Ausdroid. The device is expected to arrive next week at Computex as part of a family of Android tablets with 4:3 aspect ratios.

The ZenPad will reportedly ship in 7-inch and 8-inch variants with similar designs. The smaller model is expected to offer a 1024×600-pixel resolution, while the larger option is said to pack in a 2048×1536 resolution. Both tablets appear to sport microSD card slots for adding extra storage, front facing speakers, SIM card slots for data connectivity and Intel processors.

The Taiwan-based company has designed some impressive tablets in the past, including the popular Nexus 7. There was also the slightly confusing PadFone hybrid series, which never really took off here in America. Hopefully the ZenPad can build on the Zen brand’s recent momentum to offer a winning tablet.

Tesla Model S update promises to solve “range anxiety”

Tesla announced a new update coming to its Model S car this year which should make it impossible to ever drive too far away from a charging station, at least on purpose. The company also confirmed plans to add auto-steering features later this year. Ahead of the recent event, CEO Elon Musk promised to kill “range anxiety” once and for all, describing the concern some Tesla drivers feel over whether they’ll be able to reach a charging station in time. Once the firmware update (version 6.2) hits, it will add a Range Assurance application that keeps track of your location and the nearest chargers. The app, which always runs in the background, will send a notification to the driver if he or she is about to wander out of range so that they can turn around in time. “This makes it effectively impossible for a Model S driver to run out of range unintentionally,” Musk said.
