Bing Image Search update adds features Google doesn’t offer

See full gallery on TechnoBuffalo

Microsoft announced a pretty big update to Bing Image Search on Friday that may finally convince you to switch over from Google. The new and improved service is expanding to include products you can buy, extra information, content from Pinterest and more.

The addition of product information is still in beta, but it looks pretty promising. Bing will offer up a list of places you can buy any particular item along the bottom of the screen. Microsoft already includes a bunch of different shopping sites, and plans to add even more soon.

Even if you’re looking for pictures of something that can’t be purchased, Bing will still offer up extra information. For example, a picture of a national park is accompanied by a few details culled from World Trail Finders. Microsoft is also adding images pinned on Pinterest, more size options, and quick access to pages that host a particular picture. Finally, the update includes a general redesign that looks a lot sleeker than the old Bing Image Search.

Microsoft says the new version of Bing will roll out in the next few weeks, though when exactly may depend on what device you’re using. The update is headed to bing.com, PCs, computers, tablets and smartphones running Windows and Android or iOS.

Tesla Model S update promises to solve “range anxiety”

Tesla announced a new update coming to its Model S car this year which should make it impossible to ever drive too far away from a charging station, at least on purpose. The company also confirmed plans to add auto-steering features later this year. Ahead of the recent event, CEO Elon Musk promised to kill “range anxiety” once and for all, describing the concern some Tesla drivers feel over whether they’ll be able to reach a charging station in time. Once the firmware update (version 6.2) hits, it will add a Range Assurance application that keeps track of your location and the nearest chargers. The app, which always runs in the background, will send a notification to the driver if he or she is about to wander out of range so that they can turn around in time. “This makes it effectively impossible for a Model S driver to run out of range unintentionally,” Musk said. Version 6.2 should roll out in the next two weeks. It also includes a new Trip Planner feature that helps map out long...

Crypt of the NecroDancer mod is the Mega Man rhythm game we’ve never had

Not ready for “Mega May” to end just yet? Capcom has done a good job making sure that every classic Mega Man game that it can release has been released through digital channels, but when it comes to original content, the fan scene is still the best place to look. Like this mod for example! The Mega Man series is eternally memorable for its amazing soundtracks, but we’ve sadly never gotten a rhythm game out of it. Luckily, we have CutmanMike to thank for modding the Blue Bomber, a host of his iconic enemies, an arsenal of special weapons, and several of his greatest musical hits into the indie hit Crypt of the NecroDancer. For those who have not played it,  Crypt of the NecroDancer  is a dungeon crawling roguelike game. Sure, we have enough of those these days, but the kicker which really helps this one stand out is that it must be played to a beat for maximum performance. Miss a beat, and your character will do less damage or miss an attack. The Mega Man mod r...
