Leaked photo reveals budget Huawei with fingerprint scanner

Fingerprint scanners are typically reserved for high-end smartphones and tablets right now, but it seems Huawei could be looking to change that. A leaked photo that allegedly reveals the company’s next budget smartphone early shows a fingerprint scanner on its back. The new device doesn’t yet have a name, but according to  MyDrivers,  which was first to publish the leaked picture, the handset will be priced at just 999 yuan in China, which is around $160. It will also support all network bands, allowing it to be used on any carrier in any country. This “global” connectivity and the fingerprint scanner are two features that we can expect from all future Huawei devices — no matter how much they cost — according to Wu Zhou, the company’s vice president. Unfortunately, there are no specifications to go along with this photo yet, so we’ll have to wait until Huawei makes the handset official to find out what else we get for $160. The company has a press event...

LG G Watch R update will enable Wi-Fi later this year

See full gallery on TechnoBuffalo LG has confirmed that it will release a maintenance update for the G Watch R later this year that will enable Wi-Fi compatibility. The South Korean company says its engineers are already working on the release, but it isn’t scheduled to reach users until the third quarter. Google enabled support for Wi-Fi in its latest Android Wear update — one of its most significant so far. It enables Wear watches to stay in touch with smartphones via Wi-Fi networks, and even receive notifications remotely via cloud sync. But only certain Wear watches have Wi-Fi built-in. The G Watch R, which is just 7 months old, was thought to be one of the devices that would be left out — like the original G Watch and the Asus ZenWatch. Fortunately, that’s not the case, but owners will have to wait some time before they can enjoy Wi-Fi connectivity. “LG Watch Urbane is the only wearable device Currently shipping with the latest version of Android Wear OS and is Wi-Fi capable...

Nexus 6 on T-Mobile starts getting Android 5.1.1 with Wi-Fi calling

See full gallery on TechnoBuffalo T-Mobile has begun rolling out its Android 5.1.1 update for the Nexus 6. The release was finally approved by Google just two days ago, and it brings Wi-Fi calling as well as plenty of bug fixes. Des Smith, Product Evangelist at T-Mobile, confirmed the update’s approval on Twitter, promising that “a small group” of Nexus 6 owners would receive the release over-the-air this weekend. It will come with build number LYZ28E, and it weighs in at 125MB. “If all goes well,” T-Mobile will continue to make Android 5.1.1 available to more Nexus 6 owners “over the coming weeks,” Smith added. In addition to Wi-Fi calling, Android 5.1.1 for the Nexus 6 brings a number of bug fixes and performance improvements, including a patch for one issue that caused handsets to run slowly with encryption enabled. You will need to be running Android 5.1 to get the Android 5.1.1 release, so if you haven’t already installed that yet, it might be a good idea to do so soon. If y...

Google expected to deliver 2-year update guarantee for Nexus devices

Google will announce a new two-year update guarantee for Nexus devices alongside its next-generation Android M software, a new report claims. The policy is expected to apply to both new hardware, and existing devices already on sale. “Nexus devices will get major system updates for two years and security patches for three years from OS release date,” reports Android Police. “Security patches will alternatively be guaranteed for at least 18 months from the date of purchase in the Google Store/Play Store (whichever is longer).” This update policy will surely make Nexus smartphones and tablets even more popular among hardcore Android fans, who already appreciate Google’s hardware for its pure Android software that’s free from third-party tweaks and alterations. But while the policy is expected to apply to existing Nexus devices, it doesn’t mean your Nexus 5 or Nexus 7 will get updates for another two years. The two-year timeline is based on release date — not when the policy is intr...

3 of the craziest keyboards to try for iOS 8

One of the more welcoming (and surprising) additions to iOS 8 last year was the ability to use third-party keyboards. After years of locking down its ecosystem, Apple was finally showing signs of opening up, admitting that not everything it does is the end all, be all. And while most people were probably quick to download keyboards like Swype, SwiftKey and Fleksy, we all know what you really did: download a GIF keyboard. If you haven’t explored the more untamed part of Apple’s ecosystem, we’ve made a list of three of the crazier keyboards you should check out. The first one, as you may have guessed, is GIF Keyboard, which is free from the App Store. Sometimes words and emoji can’t convey your true feelings, so why not let a cat GIF do that for you? Rather than scouring the Web for the perfect Bob’s Burger’s GIF, simply let GIF Keyboard do the work for you. Just input your search, and you’ll see a ton of results perfect for question like, “How are you feeling?” Nothing a good Tina ...

Things have been looking up for the company after an executive shake-up, a lot of soul searching, and the PlayStation 4 kind of catching on in Japan, and I couldn’t be more excited to be a Square Enix fan once again! I mean, what’s E3 going to look like with  Final Fantasy XV on the way!? Wait a minute. That’s not coming to E3 this year … Anyway, with that huge gaping hole in its presentation, here are eight other major games or surprise announcements we want to see from Square Enix on the big stage this year. Kingdom Hearts III See full gallery on TechnoBuffalo It goes without saying that in the West, Kingdom Hearts is Square Enix’s second most popular Japanese franchise after Final Fantasy .
