Arizona Sunshine, a zombie game, announced for SteamVR on HTC Vive

One of the first genres that I think of when I consider the potential success and future of the virtual reality gaming medium is survival horror. VR has the potential to take survival horror to new heights, and if developers can bring together immersion and terror into a really, really good illusion, gamers will eat it up. I won’t. No. Because I’m a bonafide chicken when it comes to horror games. No sir. Nope. Arizona Sunshine might not be a strict survival horror game, but it is a zombie effort bound for SteamVR on the HTC Vive. It’s coming from Vertigo Games and Jaywalker Interactive, both without too much in the way of game creation experience. The teaser above is neat, but man do I hate those cuts. See full gallery on TechnoBuffalo The HTC Vive’s motion controllers mean that this game will offer, well, motion control.  Arizona Sunshine will be a short, broken up title presented in “Bite-sized chunks that flow together to form the complete picture.” It looks interesting,...

Huge Spotify for iOS redesign revealed

See full gallery on TechnoBuffalo Earlier this week Spotify announced a richer experience that’s going to be available to Spotify Premium customers. That includes video clips from popular TV channels such as Comedy Central, ABC and ESPN, among others, podcasts, a new Spotify Running feature and more. Spotify didn’t really show what it’s going to look like on mobile, save for a few screens, but  9to5Mac  published a bunch of shots that provide much more detail. Podcasts appear to fall under “audio and video shows,” where you’ll be able to stream content. Spotify Running, as we already know, will provide workout music based on the tempo of your movements, and we see what the UI will look like for music that’s recommended based on the time of day. It looks like a similar experience to what Spotify already offers, though a bit cleaner and with all of the new features baked in. Spotify didn’t say when the new mobile apps will be available, so we’ll keep an eye ou...

Witcher 3 is having trouble with Xbox One’s standby mode

See full gallery on TechnoBuffalo If you’re playing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on Xbox One, you might want to save your game and exit when you’re done, at least until a patch hits. Users on Reddit and the official Witcher 3 forums are reporting that they’ve lost some save progress when putting their console into standby while the game is still active. Users are typically seeing this manifest when the game pops up a message saying “You cannot save right now,” which is what comes up when you’re in the middle of a story quest. Quitting and reloading the game seems to remove it, though some are getting stuck on a loading screen as a result and having to wipe their saves completely. Ouch. A bright side to this is that it sounds like you can take advantage of Microsoft’s decision to store all your saves in the cloud by deleting the save from your console and resyncing it. This can be done by selecting the game in the Xbox One OS, hitting the Start button, selectin...

Hilarious video shows you how to pronounce “Huawei”

See full gallery on TechnoBuffalo How do you pronounce Huawei? Is it “hooway?” What about “Hoowaway?” You might be pronouncing the name wrong, and a hilarious new video shows you the right way to do it. Just sit back and let friendly ole’ Gordon Friend coach you through it. The video will help you with some “vocal warmups” to get your chords ready to speak. Then some Arsenal football players come in and teach you how to properly pronounce their names because, you know, you’ve been doing that wrong all along, too. Finally, the video ends with what we’ve all been waiting for: how to pronounce Huawei. It’s easy, “Wah-way.” Yep. That’s it. Now you know. Watch the silly clip below for a good laugh. from TechnoBuffalo http://ift.tt/1cadGlR

New Batman Arkham Insider video gives a closer look at character designs

A lot of work goes into designing a character, even an existing one, for a game. Characters like Batman and the Scarecrow have been around for decades, but whether its the comics or the games, we’re seeing new takes on the characters all the time. In the third episode of Rocksteady Studios’ Arkham Insider, the developer talks in depth about the design of a few characters, focusing on the Arkham Knight, Scarecrow, and Batman. The Knights Dark and Arkham are both armored this time around, setup for war, and covered in tech. Scarecrow takes the creepy burlap sack mask idea that much further this time around, with it looking less like a mask and more like a second layer of skin. The team also takes some time to answer some questions about the game. One especially interesting tidbit is that the Batmobile, like Batman himself, has a development tree for new gadgets and functions. Check out the video above for in-depth looks at the characters. Just Cause 3 is “more of a sandbox” than almost any other game

See full gallery on TechnoBuffalo The  Just Cause franchise, particularly  Just Cause 2 , is often celebrated for being so perfectly sandbox in design. Anything goes, and the game is built with the true intention of letting players explore, try to bend the mechanics and, generally speaking, have fun. In an interview with GamesRadar+ ,  Just Cause 3 Game Director Roland Lesterlin talks a bit about their new sandbox system and how promising it is. “We’re a systems-driven game,” he explains at one point. “This is a sandbox, more of a sandbox than almost anything else out there.” GamesRadar+ apparently also spent time going hands on with the game. You can read the full feature by hitting the source link below, and it offers a bunch of points regarding how this new sandbox works. For instance players will have access to three tethers at once (though that may change as Avalanche is looking at going up to five tethers), and that means tying all sorts of things togeth...

Apple’s rumored TV streaming service may include local stations

Apple’s plans for a 4K TV set may be dead , but the company’s still expected to launch its own video streaming service later this year . Now, a new report from  Re/code suggests the release could be delayed over plans to offer local programming as part of the package. The deal could give Apple’s upcoming service a clear advantage over the competition, since few streaming options offer any local TV access at all. However, the lengthy negotiations required to secure these rights are apparently holding everything else up. The entire network of local and national broadcasters is pretty complicated, and many smaller stations don’t even have the technology necessary to support digital streaming. So it seems unlikely Apple will launch its new service this fall despite its best efforts. Several anonymous TV executives told  Re/code  that the Cupertino company hasn’t established deals with any programmers so far, though they still expect the service to launch eventua...
