‘True Detective’ season 2 plot teased in second trailer

True Detective season 2 is just over a month away, and we still don’t really know what to expect. The first trailer introduced us to four main characters without a line of dialogue. Now a second short trailer offers a quote from each of them, offering a few hints at what’s to come. Check out the clip above and then read on for a recap of what each character has to say. “Sometimes your worst self is your best self,” says Vince Vaughn, who plays what seems like a pretty philosophical villain. Hopefully showrunner Nic Pizzolatto still lets him crack at least a few jokes. “My strong suspicion is we get the world we deserve.” That’s Colin Farrell as a detective giving off some serious Matthew McConaughey/Rusty Cohle vibes from True Detective’s first season. “This isn’t me doing this, this isn’t me,” says Taylor Kitsch, playing what seems like a pretty conflicted motorcycle cop. Finally, Rachel McAdams’s detective offers a few possible plot deta...

Google’s family-friendly Play Store section expected during I/O

Last month, Google sent out a call for developers to submit their kid-focused apps to a new section of the Play Store. Now it looks like the “ Designed for Families ” service could be launching later this month at Google’s I/O developers conference . A message sent from Google to developers (and obtained by  Phandroid ) reveals a cut off date for the new kid-friendly endeavor on May 28. That’s the same day I/O kicks off, suggesting the company could make an announcement during the conference. Of course, Google will still take submissions afterwards, but getting your app in early will “increase the discoverability.” We’re guessing “Designed for Families” will exist as a section within the broader Play Store, though Google hasn’t explained the specifics just yet. It’s also possible the company could launch an entirely new market for kid-friendly apps. We’ll be covering I/O live on the ground on May 28, so check back soon for all the news on Google Play, Android, Android Wear and ...

11 minutes of Overwatch gameplay featuring Mercy, the support healer

Blizzard is certainly starting to roll out the Overwatch gameplay footage. Could it be preparing for some sort of E3 unveiling or playable coverage? Yesterday, we had seven minutes of combat featuring the hypnotic monk Zenyatta . Today, we have the support work of Mercy, the healing angel. While certainly not as awe-inducing as yesterday’s gameplay, this stuff still looks great. Crank it up to 1080p and 60fps, if you can, and enjoy. We have 11 minutes worth of stuff, too, so that makes it all the more special. See full gallery on TechnoBuffalo I hope we’ll see a string of these character-focused clips over the next several days. Say what you want about Overwatch , but Blizzard has at least done a good job creating a variety of characters. The count currently sits at 14 playable heroes. We don’t have a release date for this one yet, but it has been announced for PC and will offer a beta later this year. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if Blizzard announces PlayStation 4 an...

Samsung Wallet shutting down ahead of Samsung Pay launch

Samsung sent an email to customers on Thursday alerting them of the impending shutdown of Samsung Wallet, an application that has been available to Samsung customers that allows them to store loyalty cards, credit card information and more. Samsung said the service will shut down on June 30, the effective termination date, and the move suggests that Samsung Pay will launch shortly thereafter. Samsung Pay is the firm’s new mobile payment system that works with the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, and allows users to take advantage of magnetic stripe and NFC-based payment systems. Samsung said coupons inside of Samsung Wallet will no longer work after June 30, but that tickets and reservations will still be available through partner applications. “All your personal information will be handled in accordance with our privacy policy,” the company added. Wallet didn’t seem particularly popular, and we hope this means that Samsung Pay will launch right around the same tim...

The Walking Dead Season 3 not releasing this year, studio teases announcement

See full gallery on TechnoBuffalo Don’t worry, Telltale Games is getting around to doing a third season of its The Walking Dead adventure franchise, but it’s a little bit busy working on Minecraft, Marvel , Game of Thrones, Borderlands,   a “super show” idea with Lionsgate, and its own original IP  at the moment. According to the Twitter account of Telltale’s spokesperson Job Stauffer, the studio will not be getting back to the third season The Walking Dead  this year despite rumors of a new release. Speculation is now instead pointed towards another mini-episode similar to Season 1’s  400 Days , and Stauffer indeed does tease an “insanely cool” announcement. To re-clarify, no, TWD S3 is *not* starting in 2015. But what I am seeing this week will be, and it is insanely cool. Stay close, news soon! — Job J Stauffer (@jobjstauffer) May 12, 2015 Seriously, these guys obviously work enough overtime as it is. Telltale Games will get around to The ...

Captain America: Civil War Get your first look at Crossbones

See full gallery on TechnoBuffalo A fresh batch of set photos from Captain America: Civil War has given us our first look at Cap’s new adventure, along with a look at Frank Grillo as Crossbones. Marvel has already confirmed the cast for the upcoming film, but up until now we haven’t seen what Crossbones will look like on the big screen. I like what I see. While a lot of the characters aren’t present here, we do get a sense of where the focus will be. Oh, and we also get to see Captain America, tough guy superhero, shaded by an assistant’s umbrella. Among the characters that appear in the photos, we get to see Captain America (Chris Evans), Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Crossbones, though we’re not sure if that’s Frank Grillo under the helmet. Last time we saw Frank Grillo’s character, Brock Rumlow, he was in poor condition following the downfall of S.H.I.E.L.D. in Captain America: The Winter Soldier , but it looks like he has made a full recovery, and he has vengeance on his mind. ...
