That Samsung Gear Live on your wrist is already a tech relic, having been released back in June of last year and all. And on the cusp of Google I/O later this month, it looks as if the wearable is being retired for good in an effort to make way for some fancy new smartwatches. That’s our guess, anyway.
Samsung’s device is no longer listed among the handful of Android Wear watches on Google’s store, which means exactly what you think it means: the old device can’t be purchased anymore—at least from Google. If you’re really desperate, I’m sure you can track one down on eBay or some such retailer.
The signs were there; after disappearing from a number of international markets, the final death knell for the U.S. market has been sounded. It’s probably for the best, too, since the wearable was getting up there in age. Samsung supposedly has a major smartwatch refresh on the way, so we’ll be on the lookout for that.
As of now, you can purchase the Moto 360, ASUS ZenWatch, Sony SmartWatch 3, LG Watch Urbane, and the G Watch R from Google’s store.
