Qualcomm exec says Snapdragon 810 overheating “rumors are rubbish”

Reports that Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 processor had issues overheating ultimately left a sour taste in the mouths of Android enthusiasts. Early tests showed the processor getting hot, and phones like the One M9 still employ the chip though ultimately force it to run at slower clock speeds to avoid the heat issue. Now, in a recent interview, one Qualcomm exec says the whole story about Snapdragon 810 overheating has been one big rumor.

“The rumors are rubbish, there was not an overheating problem with the Snapdragon 810 in commercial devices,” Qualcomm’s vice president of marketing Tim McDonough told Forbes recently. Qualcomm did, however, confirm that a major smartphone OEM decided not to use the chip in its latest smartphones. It was likely Samsung, which ultimately shipped the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge with its own Exynos chips. Other phones, like the G Flex 2 and One M9, still use the Snapdragon 810 processor.

McDonough seems to place the blame of the overheating on early rumors associated with the G Flex 2. “Why was someone spreading false information about the 810? Our point of view is that those rumors happened with the LG G Flex 2 and Qualcomm 810 being first to market with the premium-tier application processor,” he said. “Then somebody decided to put out some false rumors about that, which is unfortunate but sometimes that’s how business is done. That has forced us to spend a lot of time addressing the false rumors.”

McDonough’s comments sound defensive, and one does have to question why, if there isn’t any heat issue with the Snapdragon 810 processor, so few companies have picked it for 2015 flagship smartphones.

¿Alguna vez has visto un ornitorrinco? Es probablemente el animal más extraño que jamás encuentres. Es un mamífero de sangre caliente, sin embargo, pone huevos. Está cubierto con la piel, pero se divierte un pico de pato. Y sus pies palmeados también parecen má…

Gears of War remaster screenshots from footage leak

See full gallery on TechnoBuffalo The only thing Black Tusk and Microsoft have left to do on the Gears of War remaster is actually announce it. We’ve seen it hinted at, denied, and rated. Now we have some footage accidentally leaked onto the Xbox DVR site, likely by a developer who forgot to disable the automatic upload. This isn’t gameplay footage per se – the enemy is standing still in the clips while the player attacks them. It’s likely test footage for some of the gore physics or something like that. But it’s definitely footage taken in-game.The two images above were pulled from a NeoGAF thread on the leak comparing the screenshot of the new clips to one from the original Gears. Microsoft is likely scrambling to take the footage down, but currently the thread, linked to in the source for this story, has links to the videos. If you decide to click through and watch the clips, it’s important to note that they were filmed using the Xbox Game DVR and were filmed three months ago, before t…

You can call it another lonely day. Haven’t we been here once before? The trailer tells her tale of how she wandered from home, and tells of how Geralt sets out to find her.The relationship between these two is not the only star of the trailer either.
