Rumor has it Huawei is hard at work on the next Nexus phablet, but Google may be working on a second smaller stock Android phone as well. A new report claims the company has partnered with LG on a second Nexus smartphone.
According to Android Police founder Artem Russakovskii, the device will feature a more manageable 5.2-inch display. It sounds like the device could be direct successor to the Nexus 5, which was also designed by LG and sported a 4.95-inch display. That’s all we know about the device so far, though Russakovskii says we should sit tight for more news.
Meanwhile, the larger Huawei-made Nexus is expected to pack a 5.7-inch 2K display. Russakovskii confirms these rumors as well, citing a “good” source.
That means we could be getting two new Nexus smartphones later this year. That’s an unprecedented move from Google, though it’s not a bad idea to offer multiple options at the same time. After all, not everyone wants a massive phablet, and a smaller alternative should mean the company has something for everybody later this year.
