Apple is reportedly testing new high-sensitivity screens for the iPad Pro. The iPad Pro is allegedly Apple’s first large-screen iPad, and rumors of the device have been floating around for as long as we can remember.
The increased sensitivity could be used to add features such as Force Touch, which is used in the Apple Watch and is expected in Apple’s next round of iPhones. It could also help with additional forms of input, such as a stylus, if Apple decides to add that feature in its next iPad.
According to ETNews, which published the rumor, Apple is sampling new “AgNW” touch-panel samples that Japan Display, Samsung and LG are all prepared to mass produce. The news outlet said the panels use an “ITO-based clear film with silver nano wire (AgNW) material” that are capable of increasing sensitivity but cost less than traditional panels.
ETNews said Apple plans to release the iPad Pro next year.
