HTC is still pushing the One M9 in the U.S. and most of the world, but in Japan the company is ready to roll out an even more powerful handset. The just-announced plastic HTC J Butterfly offers better specs than its metal counterpart.
The new smartphone, which could launch in some regions as the HTC Butterfly 3, packs a 5.2-inch Quad HD display, a Snapdragon 810 processor, a 2700mAh battery, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of expandable storage and Dolby-powered BoomSound speakers. It also features an impressive 20.2-megapixel Duo camera and a 13-megapixel shooter up front.
The design may not be as eye-catching as the HTC One M9, but it’s not bad either. The J Butterfly comes in rosso, silk, indigo (red, white and blue) options that all look pretty nice. It’s also water-resistant.
HTC’s newest phone is set to launch in Japan early next month. We don’t expect the device to launch in the U.S., though we’re not ruling it out entirely. In the past, we’ve seen a few rebranded Butterfly handsets arrive in America, but there’s no indication that’s the plan with this device.
