GTAV’s single player mods are totally cool with Rockstar

Rockstar has finally publicly clarified their position when it comes to modding the PC version of Grand Theft Auto V. As far as I’m concerned, it’s good news all around.

Rockstar likes the single player mods. It even harkens back to a classic one from Grand Theft Auto IV. Rockstar says it will never ban users for using single player mods. Its main goal? Protecting online multiplayer.

The word comes from the regular Asked & Answered column on the Rockstar Newswire. Tons of users asked if modding is a bannable offense in Grand Theft Auto V on the PC. Rockstar highlighted two such questions and then provided a response.

“Will I get banned from GTA Online for using a FoV Mod or Oculus Rift mod?” – @Mattophobia

We have always appreciated the creative efforts of the PC modding community and we still fondly remember the awesome zombie invasion mod and original GTA map mod for GTAIV PC among many other classics. To be clear, the modding policy in our license has not changed and is the same as for GTAIV. Recent updates to GTAV PC had an unintended effect of making unplayable certain single player modifications. This was not intentional, no one has been banned for using single player modifications, and you should not worry about being banned or being relegated to the cheater pool just for using single player PC mods. Our primary focus is on protecting GTA Online against modifications that could give players an unfair advantage, disrupt gameplay, or cause griefing. It also bears mentioning that because game mods are by definition unauthorized, they may be broken by technical updates, cause instability, or affect your game in other unforeseen ways.

Mod away, my friends, just don’t do it in GTA Online. Maybe you can make it rain whales from the sky, replace bullets with sports cars or walk around in a winter wonder land.

Samsung Mobile CMO, Todd Pendleton, has reportedly departed the company, according to CNET . Pendleton is credited with creating Samsung’s famous “Next Big Thing” campaign, which took aim at the company’s rivals while highlighting the benefits of its own mobile lineup. Pirate Bay co-founder won’t be playing NES in his jail cell

Fredrik Neij, a co-founder of The Pirate Bay, the massive torrent site, was arrested last year for copyright infringement. That’s okay, though. He knew how he was going to spend his free time. Really, it’s not too different from what most gamers might as for: Nintendo. All day, every day. Unfortunately for Neij, prison authorities had some issues with the request. It’s not that video games are against the rules in Swedish prisons, though. That’s actually not too uncommon. To get a piece of hardware into the prison, though, it needs to be opened up so that it can be checked for contraband items (let’s just assume Nintendo-themed shivs) hidden inside. With a DVD player or something like that, it’s not too tough, but the NES uses special security screws to prevent people from tampering with the system or getting at the hardware for piracy purposes.
