Google recently launched a new option to pre-register for apps in the Google Play Store. It’s a formula we’ve already seen for music and movies, where you have the option to buy an album or title ahead of launch.
First spotted with the game Terminator Genisys Revolution from Glu, Google Play users have the option to “pre-register” for the game, which isn’t available yet. Then, when it does launch, Google will send off a notification alerting you that it’s now available for download. If, for some reason, you decide you want to revoke your pre-registration, you can do so easily.
Google hasn’t discussed this new option publicly, at least not in any form that we’ve seen, but it should help developers build hype for future app launches. It also lets customers know when new titles are coming, even if they aren’t available yet, which is pretty cool. Hit the source to see what it looks like in the Google Play Store now.
