Full ‘Captain America: Civil War’ cast revealed; Ant-Man included

00-civil-war-cap-countdown-lead

Over the past few months, Marvel has slowly revealed which characters will feature in Captain America: Civil War. It recently confirmed roles for Daniel Brühl, Frank Grillo and Martin Freeman. But the studio on Thursday released the full cast list (along with an official synopsis), and it’s even more star-studded than we thought; it’s essentially an Avengers movie, minus Thor and Hulk.

However, new Marvel characters will fill the void, with—surprise, surprise—Paul Rudd making an appearance as Ant-Man. Hey, Marvel does have plans for the character beyond his solo movie later this year.

Marvel doesn’t officially confirm who Martin Freeman and Daniel Brühl will be playing, though we already know that Brühl is set to play the role of Baron Helmut Zemo; how Freeman will fit in remains to be seen. I highly doubt he’ll play the younger, more sarcastic Spider-Man (that’s a joke).

The full cast is below:

  • Chris Evans as Captain America
  • Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man
  • Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow
  • Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier
  • Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Falcon
  • Paul Bettany as The Vision
  • Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye
  • Don Cheadle as Jim Rhodes/War Machine
  • Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch
  • Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man
  • Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa/Black Panther
  • Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter/Agent 13
  • Daniel Brühl as Baron Helmut Zemo
  • Frank Grillo as Brock Rumlow/Crossbones
  • William Hurt as General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross
  • Martin Freeman

The film will pick up pretty soon after the events in Age of Ultron; the synopsis is below.

Captain America: Civil War picks up where Avengers: Age of Ultron left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.

We’re also expecting Spider-Man to make his first appearance in the MCU, though his role probably won’t be very big. Notice how no mention of Spider-Man is in Marvel’s release, which could mean an actor still hasn’t been chosen.

Captain America: Civil War is based on a 2006 storyline by Mark Millar, and puts Captain America and Iron Man on two opposing sides. The film, which Marvel says has begun principal photography, is scheduled for a May 6, 2016 release.

Exec behind “Next Big Thing” campaign has departed Samsung

Samsung Mobile CMO, Todd Pendleton, has reportedly departed the company, according to CNET . Pendleton is credited with creating Samsung’s famous “Next Big Thing” campaign, which took aim at the company’s rivals while highlighting the benefits of its own mobile lineup. The ads were smart, terse, and ultimately helped raise the awareness of Samsung’s brand as a major smartphone maker here in the U.S. It’s unclear why Pendleton left, but it’s being reported that Samsung executives became dissatisfied with the campaign’s recent success, even going so far as auditing the mobile division’s Dallas headquarters. It seems you can only use the Next Big Thing tagline so many times; the commercials have taken a decidedly different turn over the past few months, focusing on design, functionality and features rather than bashing Samsung competitors. The timing, I suppose, seems appropriate given that Samsung has just unveiled two new flagships, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. Samsung is clearly

Microsoft today updated its PowerPoint for iOS app with a rather bizarre update: remote Apple Watch support. You can download the new version now directly from Apple’s App Store . We say this addition is “bizarre” because, well, why would anyone want to control PowerPoint on their iPhone from their Apple Watch? This PowerPoint app also works on the iPad , and we would argue it makes more sense to control a presentation on your tablet from your wrist than one that is on your smartphone.
