Apple’s larger iPhones are stealing Android’s market share in Europe

Google Nexus 6 vs iPhone 6-9

Apple’s new iPhones are so popular in Europe that they’re stealing customers away from Android, new data shows. Almost a third of those buying an iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus during the first quarter of 2015 were switching from an Android-powered smartphone.

“In the first quarter of 2015, the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus continued to attract consumers across Europe, including users who previously owned an Android smartphone,” said Carolina Milanesi, chief of research at Kantar Worldpanel ComTech

“On average, across Europe’s big five countries during the first quarter, 32.4% of Apple’s new customers switched to iOS from Android.”

As a result, iOS saw its market share increase 1.8% year-over-year across Great Britain, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain, which took its total share to 20.3%. In contrast, Android’s share declined a surprising 3.1% to 68.4%.

Android still has the upper hand for now, then, and it will for some time thanks to its more affordable devices. 35% of those who bought an Android phone last quarter said their decision was driven by price, while another 29% said they got a good deal on their phone or tariff.

But this is yet more proof that Apple’s larger iPhones are winners with consumers. Lots of long-time iPhone users switched to Android for a larger screen before the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus went on sale, and now it seems many are switching back.

It’s a similar story in China where larger smartphones are big business. Apple’s share of the smartphone market there increased a whopping 17.9% over the year, taking its total share to 26.1%. The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are so popular there that China now sees more iPhone sales than the U.S.

¿Alguna vez has visto un ornitorrinco? Es probablemente el animal más extraño que jamás encuentres. Es un mamífero de sangre caliente, sin embargo, pone huevos. Está cubierto con la piel, pero se divierte un pico de pato. Y sus pies palmeados también parecen má…

Gears of War remaster screenshots from footage leak

See full gallery on TechnoBuffalo The only thing Black Tusk and Microsoft have left to do on the Gears of War remaster is actually announce it. We’ve seen it hinted at, denied, and rated. Now we have some footage accidentally leaked onto the Xbox DVR site, likely by a developer who forgot to disable the automatic upload. This isn’t gameplay footage per se – the enemy is standing still in the clips while the player attacks them. It’s likely test footage for some of the gore physics or something like that. But it’s definitely footage taken in-game.The two images above were pulled from a NeoGAF thread on the leak comparing the screenshot of the new clips to one from the original Gears. Microsoft is likely scrambling to take the footage down, but currently the thread, linked to in the source for this story, has links to the videos. If you decide to click through and watch the clips, it’s important to note that they were filmed using the Xbox Game DVR and were filmed three months ago, before t…

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt launch trailer take 2 – Go Your Own Way

You can call it another lonely day. Haven’t we been here once before? CD Projekt RED believes that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is far too amazing for just one launch trailer, so it has decided to create yet another just to drive home the fact that you need to play this game. The new “Go Your Way” launch trailer features more in-engine graphics instead of impressive pre-rendered CG, and its focus this time around is not our big, bad hero Geralt but rather the Princess Ciri. Don’t be fooled by her puppy dog eyes and adorable freckles. This girl will kill you in a flash! The trailer tells her tale of how she wandered from home, and tells of how Geralt sets out to find her.The relationship between these two is not the only star of the trailer either. Geralt’s fantasy world is full of real life horrors that extend beyond mere monsters. Slaughter, torture, executions, dangerous seductions. The trailer bares all that you will find in this horrible yet beautiful place, giving you a taste of the s…
