The Apple Watch has been slow to ship. Apple accepted pre-orders online, some of which are only beginning to arrive now, and the device still isn’t available in Apple Store retail locations.
One rumor suggested that faulty Force Touch motors might have been to blame. A report on Friday, however, suggests that labor shortages — now back to normal — also contributed to slower Apple Watch shipments.
DigiTimes cites Quanta vice chairman chairman CC Leung, who explained that, during the Lunar New Year, Quanta didn’t have enough manpower working manufacturing to produce as many units of a new wearable as it originally intended to. Leung didn’t specifically name the Apple Watch, though it’s assumed that’s the product the exec was referencing.
“However, Quanta already has sufficient capacity to manufacture all the orders and should see a giant contribution from its wearable device business in the second quarter,” Leung added.
We hope the increase in shipment capabilities helps drum up enough stock for Apple to begin selling the Apple Watch in stores soon.
